Things to Bring With You:

We want your visit with us to go as smoothly as possible.  Therefore we ask that you bring the following items with you when you come for your appointment:

  • All active insurance cards

  • Picture ID

  • Physician's order for your exam

  • Documentation of all implants, stents, etc.

What to Expect:

After filling out the necessary paperwork and reviewing your medical history it will be time for your exam to begin.  The technologist will position you on the padded scanner bed.  Using extra pads and pillows, the technologist will make sure you are as comfortable as possible.   Once you are positioned properly, the scanner bed will slide into the magnet, and the exam will be started.  You will intermittently hear thumping, clicking, and humming sounds.  This is completely normal and is an indication that the scanner is actually acquiring your images.  Although the exam is completely painless, an injection of contrast material is sometimes required to provide more detailed information for the physicians.  It is very important to lie still, relax, and breathe normally throughout the entire exam.  If you move, it will distort the pictures and will make it more difficult for the Radiologists to interpret the final results.

If you have to wait, please realize your doctor sent you to us because of our quality of care.  We are extremely good at what we do, work very hard, and do our best to be on time, but we are a medical facility and must handle patients who need emergency examinations as well as patients who require unanticipated special care after they arrive.  We cannot sacrifice quality and completeness for timeliness and will afford you the same care and respect as we do other patients.
